Vice President of the Board of the University, Professor Koos Duppen, passed away

28 May 2011

It is with great sadness that the University of Groningen has to announce
that on 27 May 2011, the Vice President of the Board of the University
Professor K. Duppen passed away in his home town of Kropswolde at the
age of 58. Only recently, poor health forced Koos Duppen to resign his duties
at the University. On Wednesday 18 May 2011, he was decorated as Officer
in the Order of Orange-Nassau on account of his services to the University
and society.

Koos Duppen loved our University and was deeply committed to education
and research, to the staff and the students. He put his heart and soul
into his work, and will be sorely missed. We will remember him with
great respect.

We would kindly refer you to the In Memoriam .

Condolence

A book of condolence can now be signed in the entrance hall of the Academy Building or in the entrance hall of the Bestuursgebouw, Oude Boteringestraat 44.
There will be a memorial service in the Aula of the Academy Building on Friday 3 June. The cremation service will be private.
