Michael Koetter appointed Associate Professor with ius promovendi of International Financial and Monetary Economics
Michael Koetter was appointed Associate Professor with ius promovendi of International Financial and Monetary Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business on 1 June 2010. His fields of expertise are financial markets and monetary economics.
Michael Koetter (Germany, 1974) studied Economics in Hamburg and Maastricht. After graduating he worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Hamburg. In 2005 he gained his PhD at Utrecht with a thesis on the efficiency of German banks, after which he went on to work for the Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt am Main. In 2006, Koetter was appointed university lecturer, and later Associate Professor (without the ius promovendi) at the Department of International Economics & Business of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen. He is specialized in banking and finance, mergers and failures, efficiency and growth. In 2007 he was awarded an NWO Veni grant.
