FEBlog Elmer Sterken: 'Organizing the FIFA World Cup is not so profitable'
"Belgium and the Netherlands want to organize the FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022. The official bid attracted a lot of attention when Belgian and Dutch football officials arrived at the FIFA headquarters by bike (see www.thebid.org). On the Dutch side former football star Ruud Gullit is the ambassador. After a successful organization of the UEFA Euro Cup in 2000 and some FIFA youth tournaments in the years after the focus is now on the main course: the alleged profitable World Cup organization."
