Valedictory lecture professor Jan Oosterhaven
On Monday 7 June 2010, prof Jan Oosterhaven will leave the faculty as professor in general economics, with special focus on spatial economics. He has been connected to the University of Groningen for more than 40 years, 20 years of which as professor. In addition, he was a guest professor in urban economics at UCLA in 1985-1986 and senior advisor in spatial economics at TNO in 1998-1999.
He says goodbye with a valedictory lecture entitled:
Concentration versus distribution:
about old concepts, new theories and shrinkage
Preceding the lecture, three speakers (prof Peter Nijkamp, prof Geoffrey J.D. Hewings and Hans G.M. Alders) will deliver short speeches about the meaning of Jan Oosterhaven for regional science in general, about his commitment to the discipline of input-output analysis and about the relation between his work and the socio-economic development of the northern part of the Netherlands.
The speeches and the valedictory lecture will take place in the auditorium (Aula) of the Academiegebouw (Broerstraat 5, 9712 CP Groningen) from 15:00 hours (exactly) until 17:00 hours, followed by a reception.
