Financial control costs local government 100 million euros

Every year municipalities spend 100 million euros on financial control by national and provincial government and on their own financial control. 36 percent of theses costs do not return an added value for the municipalities. This is the conclusion of a research report by COELO (Centre for Research on Local Government Economics), a research institute connected to the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen.
