Marcel Timmer Full Professor Economic Growth and Development

As of 1 March 2010, Marcel Timmer has been appointed as full professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business. Timmer holds the chair Economic Growth and Development. He will conduct research within the research institute International Economics, Business and Management.
Currently Timmer is director of the Groningen Growth and Development Centre (GGDC) and participates in various international programs funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the European Commission in the areas of international comparisons, productivity, technological and structural change and economic growth.
Between 2003-2008, he jointly led the EU KLEMS consortium of 16 research institutes, analysing patterns of growth in the European Union, Japan and the U.S. Currently, he is co-leading two other large-scale programs: the World Input-output Database (WIOD) project and of the INDICSER (Indicators for the Services Economy) project, both funded by the EU Commission.
He has been associate managing editor of the Review of Income and Wealth and extensively published in national and international journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Development Economics, Economic Policy and the Journal of Economic History.
