Minister for Trade Frank Heemskerk guest speaker on policy making in time of crisis

On December 10th, Frank Heemskerk, the Dutch Minister for Trade, gave a guest-lecture for FEB students on the economic crisis and the implications for the Dutch economy. Heemskerk, who is an economist himself, gave a very interesting talk (slides here) that made clear how economic policy making is a mix between politics and economics.
The lecture was well attended with about 100 students present (all seats were taken in Zernike room 13) and there was fortunately enough time left after his talk for discussion. Heemskerk told the lecturer, professor Garretsen, that he was impressed by the questions from our students.
