Entrepreneurship and Leadership in the Humanities
Entrepreneurship is often positioned as the way towards innovation and growth. For you as a future professional in the humanities, entrepreneurship is strongly connected to your personal identity and the story you wish to tell. Your knowledge and creativity are your main resources. Knowledge about cultures, politics, histories, languages, arts: the vital contribution of humanities to society, in an era where the value this contribution is sometimes questioned. And creativity on how to position yourself and create societal and economic value. Not only in an economically sustainable way but also in a way that goes towards transformation of people or society, in other words towards establishing cultural leadership.
Block 1
In the first block we will look at the complex relationship between the humanities and society, in relation to vital changes in the societal context such as globalisation, digitisation, migration, cultural identity. There is specific and critical attention for the cultural entrepreneurship discourse coined in politics, and for actual entrepreneurial practice in the field. We will address major challenges in enterprise development, like concept development and networking.
The Cultural Entrepreneurship and Leadership theme contributes to your knowledge and skills in two ways. First, you will discover what the essence of entrepreneurship is for you. Based on your analysis of the challenges in today’s society, you will develop a vision related to entrepreneurship and/or leadership in your own field.
