Schools for Science and Society

The Jantina Tammes School is one of the University of Groningen’s four Schools for Science and Society. The Schools bring together researchers from different disciplines and connect academic research and education with societal partners and challenges. They continue to play an important role in the University’s strategic plan for 2026–2031.

Since its establishment, the Jantina Tammes School has grown into a thriving community that connects all faculties of the University and brings together researchers, educators and students with key external stakeholders from the public sector, industry and wider society, strengthening collaboration across disciplines and sectors in the areas of AI, data and digitalisation.

AI

In its next phase, the School aims to make full use of the growing regional, national and international attention, opportunities and challenges associated with the rapid development of AI. A particular focus will be on the opportunities created by the establishment of the AI Factory in Groningen, and on strengthening the University’s connections with regional, national and international partners around responsible AI, digital technologies and their societal impact.

The School will continue to work towards its ambition of digital prosperity for all.
