Building plans Healthy Ageing Campus: information market 24 January
What is being built currently, and in the next 15 years on the Healthy Ageing Campus of the UMCG (University Hospital) and the UG? On Tuesday 24 January, (future) residents and users can visit an information market and presentations in the UMCG. These will also cover the new UG buildings on the north side of the campus: the Anda Kerkhoven Centre (education centre), the University College Groningen (UCG) and the plans for the outdoor space around it. Of interest to staff and students of medical sciences, pharmacy and UCG in particular.
The event on Tuesday 24 January consists of a walk-in market (16.00-20.00h, Fonteinstraat UMCG) and 40-minute presentations (at 17.30 and 18.30h) on the construction masterplan, landscaping the UMCG terrain and the process of developing the area vision. Registration for the presentations (before 21 January 2023) can be done via umcgbouwt@umcg.nl. The walk-in market will also include the UG with information about the Anda Kerkhoven Centre and the UCG (Bloemsingel 1).

UG on the Healthy Ageing Campus
Anda Kerkhoven Centre
This first UG building project on the north entrance of the Healthy Ageing Campus is expected to be completed in early 2024. The new education centre for the Faculties of Medical Sciences and Science & Engineering (especially the Pharmacy programmes) will be named Anda Kerkhoven Centre after the Groningen resistance fighter and medicine student Anda Kerkhoven (1919-1945). The building will provide teaching, meeting and working spaces for some 2,000 students and staff.
University College Groningen
University College Groningen (UCG), currently housed at a temporary location on Hoendiepskade, is expected to move to the building at Bloemsingel 1 on the Healthy Ageing Campus by the end of 2025. The facade is a protected cityscape and will be preserved. The building will be renovated and receive new construction extension at the rear.
