Zernike Campus goes gas free: sustainable heating explained in a short animation
Together with WarmteStad, we are warming up to a natural gas-free Groningen. That is why we are joining forces: several University of Groningen buildings on the Zernike Campus will be connected to WarmteStad's public heating network.
With this step, the University of Groningen will save a considerable amount of CO₂ each year — comparable to the gas consumption of around 1,300 households in Groningen.
WarmteStad, founded by the municipality of Groningen and Waterbedrijf Groningen, supplies sustainable heating and hot water to buildings. This heat comes from the local area, from sustainable sources such as the sun, water, air and residual heat from data centres. This is good for you, the climate and everyone who lives, studies or works in the city.
