Welcome to your Programme
Dear prospective Computing Science student,
We would like to welcome you to the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) of the University of Groningen (UG) and inform you about the most important issues regarding the start of your MSc degree programme in Computing Science in 2026/2027.
FSE Introduction events
Several introduction activities are organized around the start of your programme. We strongly encourage you to be present there, in order to make a solid start in Groningen and to be optimally informed about your degree programme.
All newly arriving international students are invited to attend the Welcoming Ceremony of our university on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at Martiniplaza starting at 14:00 (CEST). During this festive event, you will receive important information to ensure a pleasant stay in Groningen and have the chance to sign up for the ESN Introduction week. Visit the above mentioned website for up-to-date information.
All prospective MSc students new to the University of Groningen, and other interested students, are invited to attend the general FSE Introduction on Friday, 28 August 2026. At this event, you will receive important information about studying at the FSE.
All prospective Dutch and international MSc Computing Science students are invited to attend the programme-specific introduction on Friday 28 August, 12.15-13.15 (location will follow). At this event, you will receive important information about your degree programme.
Afterwards a complimentary vegan lunch is offered from 13.15-14.00. For students new to the university we have an additional information session from 14.00-14.45 which will be followed by a campus tour. Check the Kick-off activities page for more details.
All students are expected to check the Master Computing Science page on the Student Portal (Brightspace> Study Info > Master > Computing Science). Please use the information on the Programming & Planning page of the MSc CS Student Portal to compile your programme and do not hesitate to reach out to the academic advisor if you need help.
