Study Association
A study association is an organization run by a team of students from the respective bachelor’s and master’s degree programme(s). The FSE study associations organize many activities for students, including introductory camps and monthly “borrels” (informal social gatherings, often with drinks), but also more serious events such as company visits or conferences. Study associations differ from the general student associations where the degree programme is irrelevant. And study associations do not have hazing rituals.
Hi, and welcome to Astronomy in Groningen!
Sirius A is the study association for Astronomy students at the University of Groningen. We support students during their studies, provide information about future career opportunities and bring Astronomy students together through a wide range of educational and social activities.
Most of these activities are organised by our committees - and you can join one yourself! Our committees organise, among other things, stargazing activities, study sessions, sports, social events, international trips, lectures, and sustainability projects. Joining a committee is a good way to meet other students, develop new skills and become involved in the Astronomy community.
You are also welcome to visit our members’ room in the Kapteyn Building, room 0127. It is open from Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 20:00 and is a place to study, have coffee or a snack, and spend time with other members.
Visit the Sirius A website to become a member, see our upcoming activities or sign up for a committee.
Yours astronomically,
The Board of Sirius A
