Ina Horlings adjunct professor Socio-Spatial Planning

As of September 1, 2016, Lummina Horlings is appointed adjunct professor in Socio-Spatial Planning at the Planning department of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.
Horlings’ research and teaching will focus on the emergence of new individual and collective initiatives which take responsibility in shaping places, their socio-spatial impact and how to understand this scientifically from a planning, governance and institutional perspective. It raises questions such as why would people contribute to spatial transformation, what is the role of values and culture in planning and place branding, how can leadership mobilize people and support new local and regional agendas.
Ina Horlings (1962) has an interdisciplinary background, a mix of land- and water management, social (environmental) geography, (rural) sociology and policy sciences. She defended her PhD thesis at the Radboud University in Nijmegen in 1996 and works at Wageningen University as a researcher in rural and regional development.
