Courses at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences

All courses at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences are offered in English. Most of these courses are available to visiting exchange students, although certain restrictions apply. Some courses have (very) restricted capacity (degree-seeking students at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences are prioritized; sometimes then our 'own' exchange students are prioritzed); some courses have entry requirements. Always, students should be able to take courses in their regular format, including the regular examination procedure (and dates/times). Courses taught at the MSc (Master’s) level are only available for students that can submit a photocopy of a BSc (Bachelor's) diploma.

Exchange students enrolled at other Faculties of the University of Groningen can take, in each semester, not more than 10 EC worth of courses at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences (upon approval).

Course information, lecture dates and times and exam dates and times are subject to change. Most courses run in the teaching weeks of the semester block specified in the left column.

The two courses offered by the International School of Spatial Policy Studies, Spatial Problems and Spatial Policies: The Dutch Experience and Spatial Planning Group Project, both offered in Bachelor’s and Master’s versions, are included in the overview.

Courses at other faculties of the University of Groningen

Students entering the University of Groningen as an exchange student at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences are expected to take most of their courses at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, but are allowed to take no more than 10 EC per semester at other faculties of the University of Groningen. There is no guarantee that visiting exchange students can be enrolled in courses delivered at other Faculties of the University of Groningen; your participation in courses offered outside the Faculty of Spatial Sciences is subject to entry requirements and capacity restrictions imposed by those other Faculties/Schools/programmes.

Please consult Ocasys for courses offered at other faculties of the University of Groningen. Be advised that many courses that can be found through the 'Ocasys' course catalog are courses with entry requirements or capacity restrictions. Only when it is explicitly mentioned that the course is opened for exchange students, it might be possible for exchange students from other Faculties/Schools to take those courses. Also, a number of courses in 'Ocasys' are presented with an English title, although the courses are delivered in the Dutch language. Course information, lecture dates and times and exam dates and times are subject to change.

In all cases, contact the International Office of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences for assistance.

Language courses offered by the Language Centre

If you are interested in taking a language course, for example a Dutch language course, please be advised that these courses must be paid for. You should register for a Dutch language course yourself, and make the necessary payments, through the Language Centre.
