Faculty Council FEB

General information

The FEB Faculty Council is the official co-participation body of the Faculty of Economics and Business. The council consists of 18 members: 9 students and 9 staff members. The student members are elected annually, whilst the staff members are elected every other year.

The Faculty Council meets at least five times a year with the Faculty Board to discuss education and research, staff matters, the budget, occupational health and safety regulations, housing, and organisational changes. The Board requires the Council’s approval for the Teaching and Examination Regulations (TERs). On all other matters, the Council has the right to give advice.

Our Student Collective Economics and Business stands for education that is practical, transparent, and future-oriented. As the only independent, faculty-specific faction within Economics and Business, we are uniquely positioned to represent the specific needs and interests of our students.

In a rapidly changing world, we believe our education should evolve with the challenges and opportunities students will encounter after graduation. For SCEB, this means bringing theory and practice closer together, preparing students for a future shaped by AI, and ensuring transparency throughout the student experience. From stronger career support and bringing real-world challenges into the classroom to transparent use of AI and graduation ceremonies that truly celebrate student achievement, we want to improve the student experience from start to finish.

DVS

De Vrije Student represents students at the RUG who want more than just a degree.

Students should have the freedom to decide how they study and how they develop themselves. Attendance should not be mandatory. Good teaching should make it unnecessary.

University is about more than academics alone. Board experience, internships, extracurricular activities, and career development all help prepare students for what comes next. We believe students should have the flexibility to make the most of their time at university, both inside and outside the curriculum.

The exam-free week after Christmas is one example of what DVS has achieved, giving students time to recover during the holidays before the exam period begins.

That is why we stand for a university that invests in students, not just in their grades.

Meetings

The Faculty Council meets with the Faculty Board at least five times a year. These consultative meetings are open to the public. You are very welcome to attend and watch the meeting from the public gallery. Below you will find the meeting dates for this academic year. The agenda will be made publicly available on MyMeeting no later than two weeks in advance. A link to the agenda will be added to this overview at that time.
