Siri Maringanti | Faces of FEB

The Faculty of Economics and Business is a faculty with a great diversity of people who all have an impact, big or small, on science and society. But who are these people? Within ‘Faces of FEB’ we connect with different students, staff members and researchers of the faculty and give a little peek into their world. This month: Siri Maringanti, the Chairperson of Quest, who helps bridging the gap between students and faculty members in order to improve educational quality.

Siri Maringanti

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi! I am Siri Maringanti (20), a third year E&BE student at FEB from India. I am also the Chairperson of Quest alongside four other board members. When Quest and university are not taking up my time, I like to paint, read, and hangout with my friends.

2. You are the Chair of Quest, but what does Quest do exactly?

Quest helps with a part of the Quality Control in FEB. We do so by appointing Year Representatives and Program Committee members (we only chair the YR meetings). We help in bridging the gap between the students and faculty members. We use the feedback that is provided by them to send it to the Quality control office, the Program Coordinators, and other stakeholders.

3. What does your function entail and what do you like most about it?

As the chair of the board, my primary responsibility is to stay in touch with third parties and also the functioning of the board. I have had a long history with Quest as a Year Representative, but I want to extend this relationship by applying for the board. So far in my board year, I had the opportunity to be able to talk and work with several pillars of the faculty, including getting advice from the Vice Dean, working closely with the Quality control officer and program directors, and the student assessor. I have really enjoyed working with third parties and managing the board so far and have learnt a lot. Being on a board helped me acquire a lot of skills which I can confidently take with me to the workforce!

Furthermore, the chair is required to keep in mind all different activities and roles where we have supported these relations and approach the relations to ask for renewed participation in case the relation does not reach out to us, where these activities include the Best Practice Award (LotYA previously), the Inclusivision Panel, FEB events organized by the student assessor and the other student associations, etc.

4. Quest is currently looking for a new board, why should people apply?

Quest helps in improving the education in our faculty and this is done by getting feedback and sending it to people who can use it to make a difference in how students learn. It is indeed an important foundation to be a part of for the faculty. As a board member, you work in close relation with a lot of important people to make education better in the faculty. It is a truly rewarding experience as it helps you understand how to communicate and receive feedback. It is also a lot of fun to do it with like-minded companions.
