The Corporate Governance summer school - a 10-year legacy
Since 2016, a team of researchers from the Faculty of Business and Economics has been organizing a Summer School focused on Corporate Governance and the effectiveness of boards. During the Summer School, renowned experts from different backgrounds in corporate governance will share their research and experience with the participants. The aim is to strengthen the understanding of how boards are formed and how they work to effectively perform their roles. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their own research,
Through applying economic, financial, sociological and psychological lenses, the Summer School uses a multi-disciplinary approach to equip participants with tools to conduct research on corporate governance.
Participation broad angles, research and interdisciplinary nature
Participants of the Summer School expressed their enthusiasm for using new theories and skills in their own research and publications. For example, one participant said:
“I am a PhD student and my research focuses on the key theme of the summer school. I had the chance to get familiar with all of the key concepts of the theme, and got a comprehensive overview of the topic at hand.”
Another participant said:
“I will apply what I learned both in my research (how to choose a good theory, the writing of the paper, future research ideas, the choice of a good journal and so on) as well as in teaching in class.”

Contributing to a global network of contemporary corporate governance
Each year, the summer school welcomes participants from all over the world, shaping a new global network of scholars. Participants highlighted the value in learning about the approaches taken by different universities in different countries, contributing to an insightful discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of research pillars. For instance, one participant stated:
“I went outside of my comfort zone, outside my country and my University.” “[O]ne of the best parts of the experience was to meet excellent professors and curious peers, coming from all over the world, and with different kinds of expertise and knowledge. I am going back with new ideas and new avenues to explore.”
