The Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) assesses all applications from foreign nationals who want to live in the Netherlands or want to become Dutch citizens.

Netherlandsworldwide.nl provides information for Dutch and foreign nationals who (wish to) live, work or study in the Netherlands

Study in Holland

Study in Holland is an initiative of Nuffic to promote and inform students about Dutch higher education worldwide.

Nuffic Certificate for Chinese students

All Chinese nationals (People's Republic of China) have to get a Nuffic Certificate to be eligible for a Dutch entry visa and enrol in an English-taught study programme. This does not apply to nationals from Hong Kong (SAR), Macau (SAR) and Taiwan (ROC). Find more information about how to apply on the website Study in NL.

Municipality (gemeente)

If you are going to study in Groningen for longer than 4 months, you must register at the municipality. Find more information about this process and other subjects on the website of the municipality of Groningen or the website of the municipality of Leeuwarden.

Each municipality in the Netherlands has slightly different rules for registration, so if you move to a municipality other than these two, you will have to look up the information for yourself.

Health insurance call center (Zorgverzekeringslijn)

Zorgverzekeringslijn provides independent advice and practical tips for solving health insurance debts. They can explain how the Health Insurance Act works and what the rights and obligations are of the (un)insured. They do this free of charge.

DigiD

Your DigiD allows you to identify yourself when making arrangements on the internet, such as with the government, educational institutes, healthcare institutions or your pension fund. You can find more information on this website.

Health insurance in the Netherlands

It is mandatory for international students residing in the Netherlands to have a health insurance. International students are not automatically insured, so they must arrange their own health insurance. The following links provide information about health insurance in the Netherlands
