Prompt Engineering

During this workshop, you will discover how different types of prompting techniques for artificial intelligence (AI) tools can be a useful addition to your workflow. We will introduce different types of prompting, explore their strengths and limitations, and share best practices and optimal scenarios for using them.

Who should attend?

This workshop is for everyone who wants to learn how to better use large language models for various tasks. As such, you are expected to already have a basic understanding of one (or multiple) large language model(s) of your choice (like Mistral, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) which you will prompt in various ways during the workshop.

Setup

In the first part of the workshop, we will explore the participants’ current understanding of prompts by a short practical assignment. Next, the workshop will continue with a presentation of different prompting techniques, as well as a demo of how to use these techniques. Lastly, a practical part will follow in which participants are encouraged to apply the tips that they learned as well as a discussion about the effectiveness of these techniques.

(Additionally, you are welcome to attend with a question that you may already need help with, and we can provide assistance during the hands-on session!)

What you will learn:

• How to structure your prompts in order to get as accurate of an answer as possible. This will be based on tips which are provided as well as your practical experience during the workshop.

• Potential use cases: examples of scenarios in which you can use different types of prompts.

Preparation

• Basic experience with AI tools (Mistral, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.).
• It is recommended that you bring your own laptop. If you do not have a laptop, we can provide one for you. Please note that we are unable to arrange a laptop for workshops at the Harmonie Complex.

Result

By the end of the workshop, you will:

• Understand the capabilities, strengths, and limitations of different types of prompts

• Have hands-on experience with prompting techniques on different AI tools

• Be ready to apply these tips to your personal use-case.
