Hybrid education: preparation is key
While we are all in summer mode due to the perfect holiday weather, the UCF team is back in business and busy with the preparations for upcoming academic year. The biggest challenge: redesigning the courses, classrooms and curricula to accommodate for the new hybrid teaching situation (a mix of in-person and online learning).
With help of the UGs Educational Support and Innovation team, the teaching staff got together for a second workshop on the transition from remote emergency teaching to actual hybrid teaching. We shared tips and tricks regarding communication, interaction and maintaining the community whilst simultaneously working with off -and online groups.
This time, we were our own guinea pigs with half of the group joining the session on campus and the other half tuning in from all over the world (quite literally: from New Zealand to Canada!). Although there are still some unique challenges to work out, the sessions were a great succes and we are excited to welcome the students back to the building in two weeks.
