Housing
Residential living is a key part of our philosophy. This way, students create a real UCF community. In your first year, you live on our campus accomodation at the Kanaalstraat. Right in the centre of Leeuwarden and a five minute walk to campus.
UCF student Helena about living on campus:
"One of the things which make the GRL programme stand out is the community living. Right in the city centre, students live together, half of the group at the cozy Kanaalstraat house, and the other half at Markt058, a modern student accommodation housing students from many different schools and backgrounds. Everyone has their own kitchen and bathroom, so you can always close your door for some privacy and don’t have to worry about cleaning schedules. But I promise you, there will hardly be any nights where you eat alone. At UCF we love making dinner together, playing cards and celebrating done deadlines in the big common room. Moreover, some students have just started a daily yoga group in the hallway while others are planning to restore our garden. Anything is possible here and you will always find like-minded people who will make your ideas come true. Living together, you get to know people in a different way, rather than just sitting next to each other in a lecture hall. If you talk to someone interesting at uni, you can just drop by their apartment down the hall for a chat, help each other with decorating your room and be there when someone is going through a difficult time. Living with all your friends in a big house is truly special and we hope you will enjoy it just as much as we have."
