The square near Campus Fryslân becomes greener

The Willemskade near the RUG Campus Fryslân (De Beurs) will become much greener. The stones that are there now, make way for trees and grass. There will also be chairs and benches, so that students and other enthusiasts can enjoy this spot.
Alderman Evert Stellingwerf, Piet Bouma, managing director of the RUG Campus Fryslân, and students Bartek Lejman, Iris Azoulay, Jorrit Hanekamp, Menthe Hellinga and Roos van Manen rolled up their sleeves. Together they remove the first bricks from the square. Our dean Tjalling Halbertsma and our vice-dean Indira van der Zande are also there to celebrate the green moment.
Did you know that? Making the Willemskade greener near the RUG Campus Fryslân is part of the Inner City program. The Leeuwarden inner city will become even more of an ideal place to live, to meet each other and to do business. Leeuwarden will have a vibrant and green city center, where it is good to live and stay.
