NUFFIC - Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) grant awarded to Data Research Centre UG/Campus Fryslân for interdisciplinary training project on cybersecurity

08 December 2020

The Data Research Centre (DRC) of UG/Campus Fryslân has been awarded a grant under the Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme for the project 'Enhancing Higher Education Capacity for an Inter-disciplinary Cybersecurity Study Program'. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. With a budget of EUR 286,813.76, it will start on January 1st, 2021 and last until 31st March 2022.

Project Objectives

The DRC will develop training material and activities to support two key actions: 1) capacity building in the field of cybersecurity for teaching staff and researchers; and 2) development of a curriculum for an interdisciplinary cybersecurity programme. The training will support the realisation of a joint interdisciplinary cybersecurity study programme at the University of Gadjah Mada. Furthermore, the project will support the establishment of a non-degree training course for practitioners, policymakers, decision-makers in public administration, as well as the establishment of a series of informal training programmes for marginalised groups in Indonesia. This will also include aspects of digital literacy and knowledge infrastructures.

The project proposal builds on the interdisciplinary nature of Campus Fryslân and supports CfDS to enhance its capacities in the field of cybersecurity for teaching staff and researchers. Furthermore, the project will allow the institutions to share their experiences in different cultural contexts and build bridges for sustained exchange of researchers, lecturers and students. Therefore, the project also aims to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.
