This section offers students an overview of the professional support organisation for the master's programme Sustainable Entrepreneurship of the Faculty Campus Fryslân.
The master's programme Sustainable Entrepreneurship is an accredited degree programme and is chaired by the programme director. The Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organization offers advice to the Minister of Education concerning the quality and performance of the master's programme.
The programme director is responsible for the strategy, structure, organization, performance and quality of the master program. The programme director reports to the Faculty Board in line with Faculty regulations. Professor Gjalt de Jong is the current programme director of the master Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
A professional organisation of the Faculty Campus Fryslân ensures the academic quality and organisation of the master's programme and safeguards the alignment with the NVAO accreditation criteria. The quality and organisation of the master's programme is professionally supported by (i) the reception and internal services desk, (ii) the secretary office, (iii) the finance department, (iv) the communication and marketing department (including international recruitment) and (iv) the education and student support department (including student counselors and stakeholders relationship management).
The master's programme is supported by three committees that monitor the quality and performance of the master's programme: the programme committee, the examination board and the admissions board.
The tasks of the programme committee include (i) offering advice to the Faculty Board and the programme director concerning all teaching matters, (ii) offering advice on the programme’s Teaching and Examination Regulations, and (iii) assessing the implementation of the programme’s Teaching and Examination Regulations. The members of the programme committee are appointed annually by the Faculty Board. The size of the programme committee is specified in the Faculty Regulations is composed by programme teaching staff employees (appointed for two academic years) and by master students (appointed for one academic year).
The presidium of the programme committee consists of a chair (staff member) and a vice-chair (student member). The programme committee meets four times annually and uses the results from the student course survey and evaluation as input for their meetings. The chair of the programme committee meets with the programme director four times annually to discuss and review the advice and recommendations given by the programme committee. The programme director supervises the design and implementation of educational improvement plans following the recommendations and outcomes of the student course evaluations.
The examination board reviews the quality of courses examinations and course product assessments of the master program. It reviews the assessment and process of the course and programme learning outcomes. The examination board transfers its examination responsibilities to qualified teaching staff members. The examination board has the authority to decide on differentiate from the annual Teaching and Examination Regulations. All structural and incidental changes in the master teaching programme needs approval from the examination board. The examination board reviews and makes assessments of reported cases of fraud and plagiarism.
The tasks of the examination board include (i) the assessment of whether or not students have achieved the learning outcomes of the master program, (ii) designing and implementing an assessment policy ensuring the quality of examinations, (iii) making decisions in case of fraud, (iv) offering exemptions to students for examinations, (v) appoint examiners to design and implement set examinations and to determine the examination results, (vi) sign the master degree diploma, (vii) inform and advice the Faculty Board, and (viii) determine Teaching and Examination Regulations. The examination board meets on a monthly basis reviewing student requests and reviewing the assessment quality of the master program.
The task of the admissions board is to admit applying students to the master's programme matching the student’s degrees and motivation with the master's programme admission criteria. The master's programme admission criteria and process derive from the programme mission and vision and the programme’s content and learning outcomes. The admission board directly reports to the Faculty Board. The admission board meets every two weeks and is chaired by the programme director and consists of a teaching staff member and of the student marketing and recruitment officer.
