Carla Elena Sava
With an average mark of 9.8 across the 25 course units (156 ECTS credit points) that Carla-Elena has completed until now in her Bachelor’s degree programme in International and European Law, she has shown that she is an excellent student when it comes to her studies. This fantastic average mark is a wonderful follow-up to her Baccalaureate diploma (secondary schooling) in Romania, where she received a final mark of 10. Besides her Bachelor’s degree programme, Carla-Elena followed the Honours Programme (an extra 45 ECTS credit points), in which she conducted a successful research project, on the basis of which she will publish an academic article. Carla-Elena is incredibly active both within and outside her studies. She is conducting a research project into the legal activism of the European Court and she worked as an intern at law firm Tuca Zbarcea & Associatii in the summer of 2023 and at law firm Filip & Company in 2024; both in Bucharest, Romania. In addition, she engages in volunteering. Within the Dutch fraction of the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA), she is the national director for the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) domain and is vice president of the Groningen fraction of ELSA, where she is responsible for organizing seminars and conferences. She has also participated in the ELSA moot court (a simulated court in which law students learn how to advocate), for which she wrote the best written submission, was part of the ELSA research group on environmental legislation, and helped to write an article about the legal challenges facing developers of sustainable agricultural technology. In addition, she was first PR manager and then secretary and president of the Romanian NGO Interact Buzau. Finally, she volunteered in the Smart Conversation Club youth programme, where she helped secondary school pupils with their research skills and taught them how to argue. In short, Carla-Elena has not only achieved fantastic study results, she is also incredibly busy with all sorts of other activities outside her studies.
