Order or chaos: about the consequences of globalization

07 May 2014

The University of Groningen is 400 years old – certainly a reason for celebrations! The festivities include the For Infinity exhibition.

The exhibition concentrates on the major questions, the ‘infinite questions’, in academia, such as those addressed by Gerard Heymans (1857-1930), the psychologist. He attempted to find the roots of mental and social stability. Professor Philip McCann is also interested in social stability, but views it from an entirely different angle. He uses economic geography to study the consequences of globalization. From an economics point of view, the world may be becoming ‘flat’, but differences between places and regions remain.

The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
