A new generation of solar cells in the offing?

07 November 2012

With her research group Photophysics & OptoElectronics, Professor Maria Loi is conducting fundamental research which should provide the basis for a new generation of solar cells: cheap to make, flexible to use and with a high energy yield which is not solely dependent on sunlight. Maria Loi is a Rosalind Franklin Fellow. In 2011 she received the Minerva Prize. In 2012 she was awarded a prestigious Starting Grant from the European Research Council for her research project ‘Hybrid Solution Processable Materials for Optoelectronic Devices’ (Hy-SPOD). Maria Loi’s research is also supported by the Ubbo Emmius Fund of the University of Groningen.

The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
