Groningen and Science without Borders
Update August 2015: Until further notice, the Brazilian government has put the Science without Borders program on hold.
Welcome to the Brazilian 'Science without Borders' programme. Here you will find all the practical information you will need on how to apply for a position in this interesting programme. There are three different modalities you can choose from: undergraduate exchange, PhD (sandwich and full) and postdoctoral research.
Before you proceed keep in mind that all of our SwB programmes are research-based, because the University of Groningen (98th in the Times Higher Education ranking 2013) is a research university. We emphasize this, because there is a difference in educational styles between research universities and universities of applied sciences.
Participating as a PhD-student can therefore only be done at a research university and this is important to know if you are considering a placement in the SwB programme. To avoid complications, please make sure that your programme or research makes you eligible for a SwB scholarship. You can read more about that here where the Brazilian government has listed SwB research fields.
When can I apply?
The first semester of an academic year at the University of Groningen starts in September each year. The second semester starts in February.
