The message of children's books

The history of the Netherlands is retold to every new generation. One way in which this is done is through historical children’s books, mixing fact with fiction. Children’s books thus play a role in the socialization of children. Sanne Parlevliet researched the images of the Netherlands and Dutch citizenship in children’s books that children were given to identify themselves with in the past two centuries. In July, she received a prestigious Veni grant to pursue her research.
