Vegan catering will be the standard at the Faculty of Philosophy
A barbecue, opening of the year, reception of lunch meeting? At the Faculty of Philosophy, these events will offer only plant-based food from now on. The Faculty of Philosophy gives great importance to sustainability. With this choice, they are taking action to make a more sustainable world a reality.
The decision was inspired by the campaign #PlantPoweredCommunity. Green Office Ambassador and Assistant Professor Andrea Sangiacomo asked the faculty board to embrace the campaign, and to make plant-based food the default option at the faculty.
The plant-based catering will apply to events organised by the board. A barbecue that was already planned for September will be the last event to serve meat by default, along with vegetarian and vegan options. This initiative is meant to set a model, drawing attention to the issue of sustainable food in the public space. Events organised by individual staff members have the option of vegan catering. If participants have to sign up for an event, they will be offered the option to request animal-based food.
The Green Office is very happy with this decision, and hopes other faculties will follow this example.
