Discover what grows and blooms on the university grounds

24 April 2026

In May and June, the UG is participating in the national Biodiversity Challenge for higher education institutions: we are going to discover as many different plant, bird, insect, and other species as possible on our university grounds. And you can join in too, whether you are a student or a staff member!

Go outside during your lunch break and add observations using your smartphone, or join one of the excursions. For example, you can join an early morning bird excursion, go on a discovery tour through the Old Hortus, or look for moths late at night. There are also prizes to be won in the national photo competition.

Want to know more about how to participate and what activities you can join? You can find all information about the challenge and the planned activities via the button below.
