Janet Jackson appointed interim Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer
As of 15 February 2026, Emeritus Professor Janet Jackson has been appointed interim Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the University of Groningen. She succeeds Professor Janet Fuller in this role. Janet Jackson will serve in this position for one day per week until 1 September 2026.
During this interim period, a proposal will be developed outlining the future direction and continuation of the University’s Diversity and Inclusion programme in the coming years.
Janet Jackson brings decades of experience in Diversity and Inclusion, including extensive work outside the University as well as within academia. Throughout her career, she has been actively engaged in promoting equity, well-being and inclusive organisational cultures.
At the Faculty of Law, she has in recent years served as Well-being, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, working closely with her colleague Beth Yoder. In that capacity, she has contributed to strengthening inclusive policies and practices within the faculty.
With her broad expertise and long-standing commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, we are confident that the programme will continue to be in capable hands during this transitional phase.
