First-generation student peer group

Where:Student Service Centre (SSC), Groningen

Are you the first in your family to attend university? Then this peer group is for you! It’s a space to meet fellow first-generation students at the University of Groningen, share experiences, ask questions, and receive practical tips to support your academic and student life.

This edition will include a short presentation by Dr. Elanor Kamans, researcher and lecturer at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences. She is actively involved in research and projects focused on first-generation students. The session will be interactive, co-hosted by two trainers from the Student Service Centre.

Good to know:

  • Sign-up: Using the link below. If you’re unable to come after signing up, please cancel by emailing ssc-info@rug.nl.

  • Frequency: Four times a year. You’re welcome to join each time, but there’s no obligation.

  • Group size: Max. 20 participants per session. An SSC staff member will always be present.

  • Cost: Free

  • Language: Dutch (for now)
