Best Practices or Best Guesses? Towards Evidence-Informed Diversity & Inclusion Management

When:Th 06-06-2024 15:00 - 16:30
Where:Kouwerzaal, Muntinggebouw (Grote Kruisstraat 2/1, Room M.0161)

Creating a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment is an urgent and complex challenge for many organizations, including higher education institutions. Unfortunately, there is overwhelming evidence that Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) interventions are not always effective and may sometimes even be counterproductive. This is unfortunate, especially because there is a large body of research identifying the ins and outs of effective D&I management. In this presentation, Dr. Wiebren Jansen (NHL Stenden) will draw from scientific and applied research, as well as experience as a D&I policy advisor, to demonstrate how we can bridge the gap between D&I research and practice. In doing so, he will pay special attention to the monitoring of progress on diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

Dr. Wiebren Jansen will provide a lecture first, followed by a discussion with the audience.
