Kick-Off Community of Practice "Virtual Exchange"

When:Th 13-11-2025 10:00 - 11:00Where:House of Connections, Grote Markt 21, 9712 HR Groningen

We are excited to announce the kickoff session of the new TAG Community of Practice on Virtual Exchange at our university!

Virtual Exchange (VE) is an educational practice in which students from universities in different countries work together online on tasks or projects designed by their teachers. VE can be applied in any discipline and across disciplines, contributes to bringing local perspectives on global issues and helps students to develop intercultural competence and global collaboration skills.

The national VIS initiative has actively supported around 25 colleagues in the University of Groningen and even more are applying VE in teaching and learning or interested in doing so in the future.

The CoP on Virtual Exchange will offer a platform for the exchange of ideas, expertise and resources. We will organise regular meetings, contribute to at least two events in UG annually and facilitate sharing of information and communication through the TAG website and an email list.

The CoP will be launched with a kick off meeting on 13 November, in the House of Connections at 10:00 AM.

The goals of this interactive session are:

  • Get to know each other, and our needs and motivations for continuing to provide Virtual Exchange to our students, as well as other forms involving online international collaboration, such as BIPs and Challenge-Based Learning.

  • Become aware of the possibilities that a Community of Practice on VE at our university can bring us in terms of teaching support, curriculum embedding, joint research and international cooperation.

You are cordially invited to participate in this kick-off event and join us as a member of the CoP on Virtual Exchange. Please register via the form below.
