Call for Groningen Students: Join the European Student Assembly 2026 in Strasbourg!

The European Student Assembly (ESA) is an annual high-profile event that brings together around 250 students from European University Alliances to debate, draft policy recommendations, and engage with key stakeholders at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. ESA offers a unique opportunity for students to influence European higher education policies and broader societal issues.

Participation Requirements & How to Apply

As part of the European University Alliance ENLIGHT, Groningen has a limited number of participant spots available for ESA 2026 (April 20-22, 2026). In the selection, there is a preference for students who can show a strong connection to the ENLIGHT alliance. This includes previous participation in ENLIGHT blended courses, conferences, or grant calls. Showcasing a broad and deep understanding of the alliance is of advantage. The application deadline is November 2, 2025. Interested students can apply here or via the ESA website

Funding and Costs

ESA covers three nights of accommodation and meals in Strasbourg. ENLIGHT will cover the costs of one student representative per ENLIGHT university. For the selected UG student, transportation costs are covered by ENLIGHT.

Next Steps

Application review and participant selection will follow soon after the deadline (02.11.2025). We encourage Groningen students to seize this exciting chance to connect with peers across Europe, contribute to shaping the continent’s future, and gain invaluable international experience.
