Women in Mathematics
From: | Mo 12-09-2022 |
Until: | Fr 23-09-2022 |
Where: | Room 151, Bernoulliborg |
Entering the field of mathematics can be tough, and women often encounter specific obstacles. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the world of mathematics through photographs (by Noel Tovia Matoff) and excerpts of interviews (by Sylvie Paycha with Sara Azzali for some of them) of twenty women mathematicians throughout Europe.
- The opening event takes place September 13 at 15:15 in room 267 of the Bernoulliborg. There will be short talks by Sylvie Paycha (Potsdam, online), Arjen Dijkstra (UG) and Rineke Verbrugge (UG), followed by a reception at 17:00. Registration for the reception would be helpful for the caterers, but everybody is welcome.
- On Wednesday, September 14, there will be a scavenger hunt from 17:00 to 19:00, organized by the FMF. It will start in front of the Bernoulliborg and end in the NB canteen, where dinner will be provided.
- On Wednesday, September 21, there will be a roundtable discussion at 16:00 with Anne-Men Huijzer (UG), Marta Pieropan (UU), Cecília Salgado (UG), Jacquelien Scherpen (UG) and Lola Thompson (UU), moderated by Pınar Kılıçer (UG).
