dr. W.M. Jongman
My advanced teaching focusses on my research expertise in Roman economic and social history. In the second year I teach a class in Roman economic and social history. I also teach third year BA courses (often in collaboration with archaeologists), and parts of the (research) MA programs. I supervise BA, MA and PhD dissertations. In recent years students supervised by me have entered MA, MPhil and PhD programs in Chapel Hill, Groningen, Cambridge (four times), Melbourne, Utrecht, Nottingham, New York (Columbia University), London (London School of Economics) and Oxford. Four of them have since obtained their doctorates, and after various postdoctoral fellowships they now hold tenured or tenure track teaching positions in Nijmegen, Ghent and Chicago (Northwestern University). I currently (co) supervise the PhD students Geertje Klein Goldewijk, Frits Heinrich, Annette Hansen and Fieke Visser (dept. of Geography).
