Unchained care (2025 - present):
More than half of all people with acquired brain injury experience problems with vision. Rehabilitation professionals often do not recognise the problems or are unsure what to do. This project aims to develop a care pathway for medical rehabilitation centers to improve care for people with neurovisual disorders, focusing on:
- Early screening
- Appropriate care during rehabilitation
- Timely referral to centers of expertise
Part of this includes the development of educational materials for healthcare professionals.

In this design-oriented study, using Design Thinking, a care pathway is being developed in co-creation with peer experts and healthcare professionals.

PhD: The VQL-6 project (2018 - 2025):
This project focuses on the development, validation and implementation of the 6-item Vision related Quality of life and Limitations questionnaire (VQL-6). The VQL-6 is an auto-anamnestic screening instrument that aims to signal a need for additional care resulting from reduced vision-related quality of life in ophthalmic patients.

PhD: Screening visual complaints following ABI (2021 - 2025):
The aim of this project is to develop and validate a practical screening instrument for the assessment of visual complaints following acquired brain injury (ABI). The outcome of the screening instrument can be useful to screen for the degree of experienced visual complaints and may aid the healthcare professionals at rehabilitation centers to assess whether a referral to visual rehabilitation is appropriate.
