Sean has more than a decade of experience designing and managing research projects in Nunavut, Inuit Nunangat (the traditional Inuit territories of Arctic Canada). His interests include Inuit knowledge systems (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit) and oral history, long-term human responses to climate change and human/nonhuman-animal relationships, material culture and heritage studies. He has participated in fieldwork in the American Southeast, Alaska, Inuit Nunangat and central China.
He currently represents the Netherlands in the Sustainable Development Working Group (SDWG) of the Arctic Council. In this capacity, he works to better understand and address issues relating to cultural sustainability and economic well-being across the circumpolar Arctic.
