Expertise

I am an Associate Researcher at the Chair Group of European Culture and Literature, Faculty of Arts (University of Groningen). I hold a PhD from the Graduate School for the Humanities (University of Groningen). My main area of interest is looking beyond the functioning and use of social networking sites and their consequences on people’s well-being, beyond their functioning and use, passing through traditional and new media studies and cultural, identity, and gender studies, without leaving aside the cultural narratives.

The title of my dissertation was The ‘Mirror Syndrome’: young female university students’ reactions to beauty influencers’ activity on Instagram, and I have co-authored some articles related to my research project so far.

I am currently co-authoring a forthcoming book to be published by the University of Groningen Press, in which Prof. Dr Pablo Valdivia is my co-author.

I have been invited to conduct advanced research stays at world-leading institutions, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Harvard University, MIT, and Universidad de Sevilla. These interdisciplinary collaborations have provided me with a panoramic view of contemporary cultural and media studies, enriching my global research approach.

I have experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, as well as in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. My pedagogical background includes serving as a mentor teacher in the ‘Innovation in Teaching’ programme (supported by Santander Scholarships and Harvard University) and participating as a guest lecturer in different courses at the Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen.

My ongoing work continues to bridge the gap between media theory and cultural practice, focusing on media literacy and the evolving landscape of human well-being in the digital age.
