Contextual factors such as the social relationships and daily activities of a psychotherapy patient are key to personalised treatments. Yet, they are largely neglected in current research, creating a deficit of tool development for efficient context assessments needed in clinical practice. Experience sampling (ESM) has huge potential for filling this gap, but the current methodology is limited. The aim of my PhD project is to improve clinical applications of ESM by (1) investigating personalised context assessment methods, (2) comparing different ways to derive personalised context-specific feedback from ESM data, and (3) developing and disseminating materials that facilitate the use of personalised ESM in clinical practice.
