M.I. (Mirjam) Frey, Dr

Short Biography

Dr. Mirjam I. Frey completed her studies in Psychology at the University of Salzburg, Austria, and the University of Tübingen, Germany. Following her graduation, she pursued her PhD at Tübingen University under the supervision of Profs. Hans-Christoph Nürk and Korbinian Möller. She was awarded a PhD Scholarship by the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and was a member of the LEAD Graduate School & Research Network, part of the German Excellence Initiative. She completed her PhD in 2017.

Next to pursuing her PhD, Dr. Frey worked for seven years (2013-2020) in a psychosomatic clinic, focusing on diagnostics and inpatient treatment. During this time, she also obtained a qualification in systemic therapy.

Since 2020, Dr. Frey has been a lecturer at the Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology group of the Heymans Institute for Psychological Research at the University of Groningen. She teaches various courses in the Bachelor's and Master's programs and supervises internships and Master's theses, with a 0.5 appointment. Her research interests include the study of meaning in life, in various intervention projects, and the topic of (sexual) self-disgust.

In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Frey works with a 0.5 appointment at a specialized mental health care institution (Psychiatrie Noord), providing outpatient services.
