M. (Miguel) Garcia Pimenta, Dr

Dr. Miguel Garcia Pimenta is assistant professor at the Department of Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology of the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
He obtained a Bachelor in Psychology (1996) at the Universtiy of Lisbon and a Master in Cognitive Psychology (2003) also at the Universtiy of Lisbon with a thesis on Social Cognition and Personality Disorders.
He completed post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Portuguese Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies) and Clinical Neuropsychology (Portuguese Society for Clinical Neuropsychology) and worked as a clinician in private pratice in the field of clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology between 1998 and 2011.
In 2016, he completed a PhD in Psychology at Goldsmiths University of London with a thesis on Neurofeedback and Attentional Control. He lectured in several neurofeedback training courses for clinicians and researchers in Europe (NeuroCare Group, Munich).
His current research focuses on the relation between atention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and hyperfocus, cognitive motivation and academic performance and on the development of neuropsychological tests.
