M.C. (Michael C.) Fontaine, PhD

Assistant Professor

We are interested in understanding how populations and species responded and some time adapted to changes in their environmental or ecological conditions. For that purpose, we are analyzing genome-wide patterns of variation within and between species to address fundamental questions in biology, anthropology, and medicine. Our group work on a variety of organisms ranging from marine mammals, human, and domesticated plants to pathogens and mosquitoes. Our research interest lies at the interface of ecology, evolutionary biology, computational biology, mathematical genetics.

For more example of what we are doing, visit our publication webpage.

For prospective Master, PhD, and Post Doc:

You can get a pretty good idea of what we are doing by exploring this website. We are mainly using population genetic theory and tools, as well as  computational and bioinformatic methods to address  questions in ecology and evolution on various organisms (mosquitoes, marine mammals, ect).

If you feel particularly interested  by our research topics, have a general interest for genetics and computational biology, then you are probably at the right place. We have plenty of interesting projects for Master, PhD students and Post-doc. Contact me at m.c.fontaine (at) rug.nl

Send me an email (at m.c.fontaine @ rug.nl) explaining why you would be interested to join the group, a CV detailing your background and your skills (mathematical and computational skills might be very useful). We can then figure out how to make that happen ;-)
