dr. J. (Hannie) Westra

Johanna (Hannie) Westra (1960) obtained her diploma Gymnasium-β at Leeuwarden and studied Life Science and Technology at the Hanze Hogeschool in Groningen. After working for several years as research technician at the Department of Rheumatology (Academic Hospital Groningen) she obtained a PhD degree from the Faculty of Medical Sciences in 2005 on the subject of intracellular signal transduction pathways in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since that moment she is working as a researcher and laboratory manager at the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology in the UMCG on subjects related to the theme: Inflammation and Immune Regulation in Systemic Autoimmune disease. Dr. Westra is assistant professor and PI of the research school Guide and examiner for Biomedical Sciences students and Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences students.
