dr. J.P. (Ineke) Wessel

Dr Ineke Wessel studied Health Sciences at Maastricht University. After graduating in Mental Health Sciences, she did her PhD research on the role of attentional narrowing on emotional memory at the same department (promoters: Harald Merckelbach and Marcel van den Hout).

After her PhD, Ineke successively became postdoctoral researcher and assistant professor at the Department of Psychology at Maastricht University. Since 2003, she has worked at the Unit of Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology at the University of Groningen, first as assistant professor and from 2008 as associate professor. She holds the Ius Promovendi since 2024. From 2018, she is also senior lecturer at the postgraduate training program for Clinical Psychologist Specialists and coordinates the course “Research and Innovation”.
