Joosten Mueller is an Artistic Research PhD candidate in the Department of Art History and Material Culture (RUG) and the Department of Design (University of the Arts Bremen). His research focuses on the history, epistemology and materiality of model artefacts in biology.
Joosten studied Design at the University of the Arts Bremen. He is working theoretically and practically on scientific visualizations as central elements of knowledge-creation and -transfer. His master's thesis evaluated scientific virus diagrams from a transdisciplinary perspective among scientific historic, material cultural and natural scientific aspects. Within his design-based research he develops open access model(ing) and visualization concepts for educational and extracurricular learning spaces.
