PhD Project:
My PhD project is part of the 'Fertile Soils' project, which aims to make relationships between rural and urban areas more sustainable and better integrated. More information: https://www.nwo.nl/en/projects/kich1lwv0723002
I am working with Work Package 3, which is about the rise of alternative and multifunctional enterprises and collaboration networks in agricultural areas as a response to the lack of space in urban regions.
My PhD project will focus on housing in the countryside. I will investigate the following:
-
Where are existing housing initiatives, and where is demand for more?
-
What are the health implications of living near agricultural areas?
-
What is the Willingness to Pay for living in such areas?
-
What cultural impacts will such a migration to the countryside have on existing and future residents?
